I'm worried about the bachelor route, I feel like it's going to be losing a lot of what makes pathologic interesting gameplay wise, where's the gun toting, big city bachelor who is in too deep going to go? It just seems like it's going too far up it's own ass
As an ARGs fan / corpus fan / occasional marble nest player I'm actually hinging my hopes on the gameplay being wildly different. p1 was designed as a survival challenge simulator to represent "human being behavior in the situation of extreme", but the Haruspex remake perfected that vision of survival gameplay, so I don't imagine other routes would have a lot to add to that framework. Har2spex is designed around the expectation that the player will miss narrative events because of the mechanical difficulty, and that doesn't lend itself well to "change out the story elements to create fresh gameplay"! And the types of story events it offers are way more limited and underutilized than in the first game (think of how missing anything has minimal lasting effects, and the other player characters never hinder you). but the narrative Pathologic is trying to convey is more important than the specifics of the player experience, as emphasized by the depth of non-videogame materials and its general tolerance for cheating. if there's a bachel2r I want it to get 5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel weird in terms of mechanics. alienating weird unplayable weird. Since that's the one point where a new route in the p2 canon could distinguish itself and push the boundaries of gameplay... as for "too far up its own ass", if the previous route Wasn't up its own ass it is hard for me to envision more

alright tell all of us your thoughts about kaito :)
I did not forget… I have just been con crunching but now I’m free to become the worse
Minor Zexal and Arc V spoiling ahoy
How I feel about this character:
Oh no you’ve opened a floodgate… welcome to oversharing hour with Jay
I’m very normal about Kaito, just ignore the two full cosplays + the EVA foam Orbital work in progress I have mapped out, the wall scroll that’s at my work computer, my ita pin bag, and the fact that I’ve done everything I can to make his deck competitive viable and god dammit am I still trying please print this deck a god damn banger starter, Konami, I can’t keep doing this without your help-
Short story but I used to be suuuuper YGO Vrains favoring from 2020 into early 2022, but I found myself drifting from it because one can only tolerate so much subtweeting and catty behavior over personal preferences, and I’d never really finished Zexal before, just has a half baked idea how it ends, like I watched a chunk of it when it first aired but never finished and proceeded to forgot most of it, so I picked it back up after deciding to pick up Kaito to write in an RP server with some friends because I remembered liking him and… well I didn’t stand a chance when I got back to him fjdhdhd
I deeply relate to the theme of self-inflicted loneliness because it’s easier to be by yourself, just getting walked out on, left in the dark, or even being shafted for reasons out of my own control, I really get that
Also taking on too much if it means the people you love will be ok even if the ending result is you’re not ok, where he is after his Duel with Yuma at the end of Zexal I and getting to repair all of those relationships he was damaged by is where I want to get to in life
Bonus fact that’s minor spoilers for another spin off, but I’m… not a huge fan of his portrayal in Arc V, I like that he’s there and acknowledge that it’s a different Kaito and I love all Kaito Tenjos as they exist, including the Structures Cosplayer, but… yeah, not a fan, I’m a big fan of showing vs telling and Arc V to me feels like it’s ALL telling for all of its supporting cast most of the time
All the people I ship romantically
The better question is who I don’t honestly because that list is far smaller, but if I had to pick favorites I’m very partial to Ryouga, Mizael, and Edo-
Something about rivals to lovers resonates with my very being, even if Edo is less of a rival and more of an enemy until Arc V does it’s usual-
I’ve written for Challenge and AntiHero both already actually, my docs is 99% Challenge Wips that are slowly coming along tbh, and GalaxyMaster takes more time to write since most of those are… you know what I’m getting at LOL
I stg Gallop's one mission was to make Kaito Tenjo a dating sim protagonist because I have no other excuse for why they gave him so many boyfriends and even girlfriends across Zexal and Arc V, Yugioh’s surprising most eligible bachelor
My non-romantic OTP
nervous laughter
Chris.
I like to think of them more as divorcees who are just fine staying apart
Also gestures vaguely at the first answer
My unpopular opinion
I don’t know if I have many tbh, besides disliking Arc V’s rendition of him / not liking mentor at all lol— Like maybe how I genuinely believe he’s the strongest rival bc his record was the best even after he was put up against forces behind human understand and was even considered dying majority of the time of Zexal while remaining arguably mostly human, Zexal’s wack
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon
Oh my god, the duel I hate the most in all of YGO is Kaito’s duel against Heartland because not letting Kaito win against someone who’s become representative of the garbage he was put through is SO UNSATISFYING
Yuma coming in and finishing it up is symbolic in its own right because of the importance of bonds, but to me that was and always should have been Kaito’s moment, let Yuma and Astral show up literally any other time and I’m fine with it
ALSO WE DON'T GET THE RYOUGA AND KAITO GRUDGE MATCH, though Kaito solos everytime, I’m so sorry Ryouga

001 Papers Please
001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:
i think the ezic are...like, pretty solidly bad. like the phrasing used in their notes is giving me some...really bad nationalism vibes, and idk if im the only one that tasted that? like yeah sure, secret society that's meant to depose of corrupt governments, who hasn't hoped for something like that, but also? bad things happen when there's a power vacuum, and i cant help but wonder what ezic's end goal is.
m. vonel baby!! sir what the FUCK is your damage! you have fifteen minutes of screentime and i wish you had more. honorable mention goes to calensk, WHAT a GUY. i like how his first thing he says is 'I'm getting a bonus and you're not. I'll split the check.' like!!! my MAN!!! and of course sergiu deserves the world. jorji is my bestie- can i not say 'yes' to this question?
Least Favorite character:
Dari Ludum And Simon Wens Die Challenge
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
elisa and sergiu, obvi. dimitrionel is VERY fun, but i personally prefer inspectonel because i am gay. calenspector too, because, again, i am gay. and, i love shae and dimitri in a 'very divorced but still elope every other month' kind of way.
Character I find most attractive:
tossup between vonel and calensk. vonel may be a short king but he's got style for days, and calensk is just my type.
Character I would marry:
half the cast has like. canon relations with eachother or someone else in some way, shape, or form, but canon be damned? calensk probably. hes very much a guy after my own heart. second places is, again, m. vonel, but he's basically arstotzkan secret service so i don't know if he's an eligible bachelor or if he's married to his job.
Character I would be best friends with:
jorji my bestie <3 hes my right hand arm man. my everything. my confidant. my best friend. my silly rabbit.
a random thought:
i like how the entire game is like. yeah its a big downer but there's the ability to do good throughout the whole game. its all grays of various shades, but you have two times you can 'mess up' per day- and sometimes just once is all you need to help keep a couple together, or make sure someone can have access to life saving medicine.
An unpopular opinion:
i think the ezic are...like, pretty solidly bad. like the phrasing used in their notes is giving me some...really bad nationalism vibes, and idk if im the only one that tasted that? like yeah sure, secret society that's meant to depose of corrupt governments, who hasn't hoped for something like that, but also? bad things happen when there's a power vaccum, and i cant help but wonder what ezic's end goal is.
My Canon OTP:
its sergiu and elisa, duh. i always, ALWAYS eat that infraction.
My Non-canon OTP:
inspectronel. ill say once more, and for one final time, i am GAY as FUCK
Most Badass Character:
vonel or dimitri. vonel because he just shows up. no fanfare, no introduction, he's THERE. scared the hell out of me. dimitri because he's the only guy with a car you see the entire game, and like. i feel something abt that.
Most Epic Villain:
i mean, who counts? the entrants? the circumstances themselves?? i personally liked the sequence where an undercover moi agent was being followed by an impostor and you had to give them fake documents. i thought that was fun
Pairing I am not a fan of:
i mean im not really a big ship boy here. i guess, inspectormitri? not sure you should get with your boss if he treats you Like That
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
none! i think theyre all good
Favourite Friendship:
jorji and the inspector, hands down. like. hes so persistent, and he doesnt have any ill will against you if you let him in when his papers arent fraudulent. he seems friendly.
Character I most identify with:
i mean, we play as the inspector. so i think that would be the correct answer in general.
Character I wish I could be:
i wanna be the guy who writes the truth of arstotzka papers. shit must be wild on the daily in that office

For the last ask game: ✨ 🌧 🍩 ⛅️ :D
Eyyyyy thanks!!! :D
✨- which fictional character (book, show, or movie) do you relate to most?
Hmmm. This is a very good question... I rarely find such characters and usually all I relate to still lack something that would make the experience perfect. For example I relate to Deadpool a lot because of his mental health stuff, medical trauma, talkativeness (actually it was because of him when I decided to stop caring and just started talking) and sense of humour, but then there's also lots of things that we don't have in common. Like the fact that he's a mercenary. I also often relate to outcast characters like Catwoman or Penguin from Batman universe but again, those are villains and often have killed people too...
So as I was thinking about this I think I'm gonna say Sherlock Holmes. He also fits all of those: book, show AND movie. I'm still in the middle of reading the novels but I'm enjoying them a lot; I love the Granada tv series (Jeremy Brett was the best Holmes, imho) and I also really like the movies with Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes.
I think the biggest reason for why I relate to him the most is because he's canonically asexual and aromantic, altho those words have never been used in canon because those words did not exist back in late 1800s yet, but still Doyle wrote him as a "bachelor" who simply just enjoyed other things over relationships. (It's just insane that I can't find a more relatable aroace character when it's the freaking 2020 but have to go all the way back to the late 1800s to find someone with a great aroace "presentation".)
But just like Holmes, I also really enjoy challenging my brain and I love to "play a detective". Altho I'm actually a terrible detective because I want everything to be somewhat special and non-cliché so I easily miss any clues that are too normal. And I'm not even nearly as smart as him, but I kinda have the same egoism sometimes that I still like to think I'm smart when I'm actually not :D I also have been playing the SH games and omg I love those games! Sometimes they're driving me crazy tho because I'm so unpatient and just don't get something right away and then I look it up and feel myself stupid because it was again something obvious but I was just again trying to think too much outside the box.
I want to go back to the books for a moment: one thing I did notice from the stories is that now as I have read quite a many of those stories, I have learnt Doyle's way of telling stories. I am now able to notice when he does that where he starts to give in clues that will lead the reader to the wrong conclusions, and that way I can already guess the actual events of the story. It was actually pretty cool moment when I was reading this one story and suddenly realized that Doyle is doing it again, he's trying to lead the reader to the wrong direction on purpose and I didn't fall for that trap anymore. And ever since it's been like this with every story. I'm excited to see if his writing style changed or evolved from this and if he ever stopped doing that. But yeah, it was super fascinating experience to myself because I do that in real life too: I observe people a lot and I slowly start to understand how they are as persons and e.g. how their sense of humour works. For example, with new people I don't always catch their "prank" humour or sarcasm but after a while, I'm able to spot when they're only joking and won't fall for those jokes/pranks any longer, and sometimes can also join the jokes myself as well. I think that's also something that kinda reminds of of Holmes' character, at least he's really good at observing people and his surroundings - I do that all the time as well.
***
🌧️- favorite thing to do on rainy days?
The same things I do every day - sit inside spending quality time with my computer XD No but, if it's a rainy day in a pretty way, like a summer rain, then it sometimes like playing with my camera and try getting photos of the rain drops or something. And especially if the sun starts shining after the rain and often creates these super interesting looking lighting phenomenons like coloring the whole air with yellow etc.!
Today is actually a rainy day and I FINALLY planted some plants I've been meaning to plant for months.
***
🍩- current mood?
Well pretty okay, just tired because it's that time of the month again, and I even got myself to use the exercise bike because I noticed I've again reached a weight I have never reached before and I've been trying to get my weight to come down for years. But it just goes up the more I try to do things like exercise and nothing makes sense, ever.
I'm also feeling slightly hyped because of dä, my anxiety and stress levels are finally reducing a little and also my mouth doesn't feel too bad anymore so I don't have those sensory overloads 24/7 either. And I'm gonna play Valheim with friends later today again so I'm really looking forward to that :D
Oh and it's extremely windy outside and the sounds of wind piss me off every single time. I don't know what it is, probably misophonia, but it just makes me feel so angry when I hear that wind hitting the walls or so. Maybe I should do something that I can listen to music meanwhile so it will hide the sounds of that wind underneath...
***
⛅- what is your morning routine?
I wake up, (check Bademeister.com), get up, turn on the computer on my way to toilet, pee, brush my teeth... Usually I do that at my computer while browsing Discord servers and Tumblr etc. After I'm done brushing my teeth I often just spend time browsing the internet, I always check the same websites like my email and browse everything on Tumblr and it depends how much time that takes, sometimes a couple of hours.
So I then get myself breakfast either when I'm still browsing Tumblr (if I'm really hungry) or only after I'm done with browsing. I also always eat my breakfast either at my computer or in the living room as I watch tv. Can't just sit still in my kitchen doing nothing so I hardly ever eat there :D And when I have eaten my breakfast, then I make myself tea. I never eat anything with it but I just start and finish my tea after I'm done eating.
That's my morning routine. But bold of you that it's always a morning when this happens. Sometimes I eat my breakfast at 5pm, sometimes at 9am ::D

A Very Hallmark Christmas by @coffeegleek
Semi-famous actor!Kurt and semi-famous actor!Blaine work the Hallmark Christmas Movie circuit in true B-actor form. Though they’ve worked on the same movies before, this time they land roles that could change their lives forever. Mostly happy fluff, but has some angst. This is Hallmark, so of course it has a happy ending. Many of my favorite tropes have been included: badboy!Kurt who really has a heart of gold and sweetness, famous!Kurt, famous!Blaine, actor!Kurt, actor!Blaine, soulmates, soulmarks, AU Glee, angst with a happy ending, and fluff. There’s also a heavy dose of cheesy Hallmark Christmas Movie writing in both the script and commercials. In true AU form, canon characters abound in various non-canon roles.
Originally this was my Klaine Advent 2018 fic that I brain froze on and knew was confusing because the first 2 chapters were stand-alone, random one shots before I got the idea in chapter 3 for a whole verse. So this is that Hallmark story verse only reworked to make it better and stand on its own. All of the Advent words are included in this fic.
Note: Part 1 of the A Very Hallmark Christmas series
~~~~~
The Elf on the Shelf by kellyb321
The owner at Verve Design has decided the holidays at the office have been way too boring in the past. He's decided to kick it up a notch with a Christmas party, Secret Santas and...and adorable Elf on the Shelf for the office. Kurt might be a little smitten.
My note: The story is completed even though it is not marked off as such.
My Year in Movies: Favorite Non-2018 Feature Films (Part 1)
I watched a LOT of movies this year. At last count, I had logged 229 features and 126 shorts; and that doesn’t count rewatches--only movies that were new to me.
I set a few challenges for myself as well this year. The first one was to watch at least one non-English language/US release per week--this exposed me to so much world cinema and some really amazing filmmakers. Anyone who avoids foreign films because “I don’t like subtitles” is really missing out, and I found myself craving these narratives from voices I don’t ordinarily get exposed to in my everyday life.
Other personal challenges: Watching as many horror movies as possible in October (with horror defined pretty loosely so I could include entries from silent era and onward, as well as some comedy cult classics that have horror/thriller elements); participating in Noirvember (in addition to attending Noir City in Chicago); crossing off some major blindspots from my list (such as Bicycle Thieves, The Producers, Lethal Weapon, A Few Good Men, Grease, Home Alone 2, Brazil, and Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom); and trying to watch movies and short films from every decade that motion pictures have existed.
In 2019, I hope to do similar personal challenges with a focus on movies made by women, LGBTQ+, and people of color, in addition to filling in the gaps of my classical/canonical movie knowledge.
OK, so that’s enough preamble. Let’s get to the list! For this list, I’m excluding movies that were released in 2018--that’s coming but this is for movies released before that.
50. Linda Linda Linda (2005, directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita, country of origin: Japan)
Tumblr media
High school girls recruit the Korean exchange student (Doona Bae, of Cloud Atlas and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) to join their rock band a few days before the school talent show. This is just a feel good film, recommended if you enjoyed the likes of Sing Street, We Are The Best!, and The Runaways. Unfortunately, it’s out of print in physical form; but last I checked someone had uploaded it to YouTube so you might want to get on that before it’s removed. You can watch the trailer here.
49. The Blue Dahlia (1946, directed by George Marshall, country of origin: US)
Tumblr media
This film noir stars Veronica Lake and Alan Ladd, and like any good noir, it deals with dark subjects including murder, blackmail, political corruption, and PTSD. It’s been on my watchlist for a long time, and thanks to Noir City Chicago, I got to see it on the big screen at the Music Box Theatre. For small screen viewing, you can catch up with it via rental on Vudu, Amazon, iTunes... the usual suspects.
48. Siren of the Tropics (1927, directed by Mario Nalpas and Henri Etievant, country of origin: France)
Tumblr media
My dearly departed Filmstruck had a spotlight on the films of Josephine Baker, and this was among them. I fell in love instantly with the lively, beautiful Baker, here playing a woman named Papitou who deals with some super scummy dudes but manages to be herself in the face of all that nonsense. Silent films can sometimes be tougher to engage with for modern audiences, but this one flies by and contains some unexpectedly racy sequences for the time. Its racial politics don’t meet today’s cultural standards, but considering Baker’s parents were former slaves and their daughter went on to become the first woman of color to star in a major motion picture, this is still a landmark film worthy of our consideration. She broke down many barriers and contributed a great deal to both the entertainment world and the Civil Rights movement, and this serves as a nice entry point into her career. It’s available on DVD through Kino Lorber, and hopefully one day soon it’ll pop up on another streaming service that carries on the Filmstruck legacy.
47. I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore (2017, directed by Macon Blair, country of origin: US)
Tumblr media
Here’s a film that goes to some unexpected places. I had no idea what to expect from Macon Blair, who frequently appears in the movies of Jeremy Saulnier; but in his debut feature for Netflix, he pulled out all the stops. Hilarious, violent, and intense, with memorable performances from stars Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood, this is a movie about getting in over your head and just going for it anyway. I don’t want to tell you about the plot because it’s best discovered through watching--just go to your nearest device and add it to your Netflix queue.
46. Song of the Sea (2014, directed by Tomm Moore, country of origin: Ireland)
Absolutely gorgeous animation from the team that previously brought us The Secret of Kells, and a touching story that combines family and mythology. I adored this one. Watch it on Netflix or rent on the usual streaming sources--for a preview, click here.
45. Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942, directed by Michael Curtiz, country of origin: US)
Tumblr media
I always watch Independence Day on the Fourth of July; but in 2018, I decided to mix it up and cross this patriotic musical off the watchlist. I’d seen James Cagney’s gangster movies like White Heat and The Public Enemy, but seeing him sing and dance was a whole new joyous discovery. This movie is entertaining, funny, touching, and full of iconic sequences that other films would go on to borrow from. I absolutely loved it. Pretty sure I saw this on Filmstruck originally, but since that’s no longer possible you should be able to find it at your local public library or you can rent it for a couple bucks on Amazon, YouTube, iTunes, and the like.
44. The Man Who Cheated Himself (1950, directed by Felix Feist, country of origin: US)
This tightly wound noir thriller pits brother against brother against the backdrop of 1950s San Francisco. Lee Cobb plays an aging bachelor and an accomplished police detective who falls for the wrong dame. His younger brother, played by John Dall (Gun Crazy, Rope), has just joined the police force and idolizes his older brother. Trouble strikes when the dame murders her no good husband and needs help from Cobb to cover it up. Naturally, Dall gets assigned to the case and as he begins to piece together the clues, he doesn’t like where they’re leading him. The climactic sequence is one of my favorite endings to a noir film, and I’ve seen a lot of them. Watch it for free if you have Amazon Prime; otherwise, there are a few versions uploaded to YouTube of varying quality or you could wait for it to pop up on TCM.
43. Los Angeles Plays Itself (2003, directed by Thom Andersen, country of origin: US)
Tumblr media
This documentary edits together clips from movies of every era that were filmed or set in Los Angeles, and explains through voiceover narration the significance of each location and the history of the motion pictures in LA. That’s it--very simple concept but also fascinating. I split this up over a couple nights because it’s pretty long, but if you’re a film fan or a Los Angeles native, this is well worth your time. The voiceover is kind of hilariously flat in its delivery--kind of a Steven Wright sound actually--but that sort of adds to the charm for me. Get a taste by watching the trailer, and then you can rent it on YouTube for $1.99.
42. A Simple Plan (1998, directed by Sam Raimi, country of origin: US)
Tumblr media
It’s been almost two years since we lost Bill Paxton; I don’t know about you but I don’t think any other actor can really fill those shoes. This year I caught up with three films that showcased his talent: A Simple Plan, One False Move, and Frailty. He plays very different characters in each one but in many ways they all start off with a similar premise: Ordinary guy dreams of becoming more. What that “more” is for each character is what sets each film and performance apart, but Paxton provided a great canvas to paint these unique characters onto. He inhabited the ordinary man better than just about anyone.
In this film, which I watched during Noirvember, Paxton plays Hank, a college-educated guy working a blue collar job in a small town, trying to make a better life for himself and his family. He’d like to get away from those small town roots, but his socially awkward brother Jacob (Billy Bob Thornton) relies on him. Unfortunately, Jacob is often accompanied by the hard-drinking loose canon Lou (Brent Briscoe). When the unlikely trio discover a crashed plane in the woods containing a suitcase full of cash, they each have ideas for how to handle the situation. Of course things escalate from there, and the way the movie explores human nature and family ties set this story apart. Available for online rental on the usual platforms.
41. The Iron Giant (1999, directed by Brad Bird, country of origin: US)
Given my obsession with Vin Diesel in the early 2000s, it’s pretty shocking I never saw this movie til now--sure, he and his glorious muscles don’t appear on screen, but he does provide the voice of the title character after all. When the Iron Giant made a controversial cameo in this year’s film adaptation of Ready Player One, I decided it was time I saw the source material for myself.
This gorgeously animated fable unfolds during the Cold War era, and features an ET-inspired story arc of a young boy befriending an unlikely being that the government is looking for. If you’ve never seen it, this is definitely a must-watch. Currently available on Netflix, but rentable on other platforms too.
40. The Unsuspected (1947, directed by Michael Curtiz, country of origin: US)
Tumblr media
I adore Claude Rains, star of this film and supporting actor in Curtiz’s more famous work, Casablanca. Here, he plays the host and narrator of a popular radio show that revolves around tales of murder--basically the Law and Order: SVU of its day. We learn early on that he sometimes draws inspiration for his broadcasts from real life criminals. When people in his own life start dropping dead, the plot thickens and he finds himself at the center of the action. A very suspenseful and well-plotted film noir, which is available from the Warner Archive collection on DVD. I got to see it at Noir City Chicago, and loved every second of it.
That’s all for this entry--stay tuned for part two of this list, posting soon!
While there are eight brand new Sims-contestants under my belt since last time, only four of them have seen release, so I don’t feel like I can justify a new Let’s Statistic to further round off the year. However, I have made up a new spreadsheet for the contestants for BCs and MMBCs that I’VE run! So both in terms of by itself and of comparing the Sims I’ve made to those I’ve had made for me, I’d say this is worth a look.
Note: the longer ago a BC / MMBC took place, the less likely it is that I have necessary details about them; this applies to Ewart in particular, but is also likely to apply to Chambers and Kiss of Death due to their relative non-recency. Ergo, it is possible I am wrong about a certain percentage of these. If the creators of the Sims for those BCs I’m uncertain about have any clarifications on these points, please feel free to correct me!
So far, for my projects, I’ve received sixty contestants. Seven for the Ewart BC; twelve for the Chambers MMBC; fourteen for the Limerence MMBC; fourteen for Slaughter or Salvage; seven for my side of Mimikyu BC (including Hotaru Marowak); and six out of a possible eleven/twelve for UTAU MMBC.
As things currently stand, I have made twenty-one more contestants than I have received, at eighty-one.
Of these sixty, the Special Snowflake ratio is: twelve Special Snowflakes, twenty-six who nearly count, eleven who barely count, and eleven who do not count.
Reef Seamount of Limerence is the only uncertainty in the last category, being potentially LGBTQ (due to entering for an NB DFAB person), but not confirmed as such to my knowledge. Besides him, four of the not-trans not-queer not-disabled Sims are a part of Ewart’s alumini; the rest are from Chambers.
In terms of percentages and ratios, roughly 43.3% of my received contestants are in the Nearly sector, compared to 32.1% of my made contestants; compare the 20% to 35.8% in the Complete Snowflake sectors. The later into my Simblr development a BC took place, the more likely it is that a contestant will be a Snowflake.
Eighteen of the fifty-nine use the male rig in-game, regardless of actual gender; forty-two use the female rig. I’ve heard it said in the past that there is a bias in the Simblr BC community towards submitting DFAC individuals for bachelors, bachelorets and bachelorettes alike, so I’m aware I’m nowhere near an outlier. It’s just interesting to actually see this principle in action.
Of the DMACs, ten are cis males; of the DFACs, twenty-one are cis females. This thirty-one cis Sims total accounts for 51.7% of my received contestants, or a 48.33% trans percentage. My sent/prepared contestants currently have a 66.7% trans percentage.
The first non-cis Sim I was ever given for MM/BC purposes was Charlie Fuentes of Chambers, breaking an eighteen-cis-Sim streak. Out of the remaining forty, I’ve only gotten thirteen cis Sims since then. Keep it up, community!
Incidentally, the first nonbinary Sim I received was Lidon Butler of Limerence.
There are two explicit uncertainties as to whether a Sim is cis or not: Emily Trophy of SoS, who is tentatively female until told otherwise, and Hotaru, who I HC is exploring this aspect.
I didn’t get into the practice of asking for the sexualities of my contestants until Limerence MMBC. Even then: I don’t recall many from that project, let alone from the two that came before it; since Vidcund doesn’t do trait establishment posts, it didn’t make sense for me to do this with Mimikyu and thus misalign our systems; and I haven’t had the chance to do so for UTAU contestants yet (though some have been given voluntarily). So the most common sexuality in my table is “[bacheloret], not otherwise specified”. ^^;
The only Sim thus far to have joined the LGBTQ community they were not previously a part of post-project is Emily Gnubb of Chambers; having entered as a cis female for a cis male, she later started dating Alex Cian, a trans woman, in Valhalla.
Taking sexuality, gender, and the gender of the bacheloret the contestant went in for into account, forty-eight of the sixty Sims are explicitly confirmed to be LGTBQ; again, Reef is presumed to be due to Amelia’s identity. (By logical extension, no contestant for any project from Limerence on upwards is cishet! Yay!)
Counting him, that makes for 81.7% - only about 9% lower than the maximum 90.1% among my own creations... On the other hand, though, their lowest of 80% is higher than my lowest of 71.6%. So make of that what you will.
I have never killed a Sim specifically for being on the spectrum. Nor am I ever going to let that go, Internet.
Nineteen of the sixty contestants I’ve gotten are explicitly disabled - fourteen of which are tied to SoS. The four that are not tied to SoS are: Lidon, possessing BPD and possible dyscalculia; Hotaru, who has PTSD stemming from the death of her parents; Echo Birch of UTAU, whose loss or impairment of magical power is considered a disability in fairy circles within the context of my canon; and Puck Keaton of UTAU, who demonstrates suicidal and self-destructive tendencies due to chronic derealization, whether factual or psychosomatic.
There are a few more that may or may not be coded to be disabled, but for a vast majority of those (Fabala Thropp, Alexis Grovesnor, arguably Laurel Forest, etc.) I have no way of chasing up if the implications were meant to lead to results. So only three have gotten through to the Hidden category on the grounds of their being the most explicit through various means - Rose Quartz Ostkaka of Limerence through extended interaction, Harukaze Mukku of UTAU through knowledge of her backstory, and Poppy Afton of UTAU through knowing how its creator works.
Technically Dottie Cleveland Creighton of UTAU straddles this, since it’s hard for anyone to tell what is disability and what is personality, but it crosses the line to ‘Mental’ because I’ve had this confirmed by Vid directly.
I would also like to note that, technically, all of the dead MMBC victims I’ve killed over the years ought to possess PTSD from their experiences. However, since it’s always been unclear as to whether that has actually manifested as a genuine thing - Post-Dying Stress Disorder, perhaps? - I choose to calculate disability ratios irrespective of that.
Ergo, we have a total of 36.7% disabled Received, compared to a 61.7% disabled Given (keeping in mind I don’t know the mental faculties of Avdotya, Osano, or strictly even Doireann yet - I have Doireann under “Amnesia of varying degrees”, but it’s hard to say for sure given Doireann is so - well - cryptic). If I have the opportunity to do so in the future, I would like to significantly raise this ratio, though I have no idea how to do so without making a disability be an absolute requirement... we’ll see.
There are fifteen CAS-intended supernaturals out of sixty: five witches, three fairies, two Genies, two vampires, a ghost who died prior to production, a werewolf, and an imaginary friend. Three of those occults overlap with the Death-induced Ghost category (two witches and a fairy), which consists of twenty-three more individuals besides that - discounting Laurel, as even though ze is dead, ze is not yet a ghost.
Much like Midnight, Xyq and SLIP, I count Marlene Ramano of Ewart as a Story Supernatural. Although not programmed with any particular status, I attempted to write her as having a great psychic potential hitherto unseen in any mortal Sim... though since she was voted off after the first challenge, I never had a chance to take this anywhere. Oh well.
As stated above, Echo is also a Story Supernatural, though this time it’s through word of creator rather than word of me.
If we include Death-induced ghosts, the Sims you’ve all made have a much higher occult percentage than mine! 66.7% of those received compared to 38.3% of those sent out. But taking out Sims who became ghosts after the fact, the difference is still there but not nearly as great, becoming 28.3% to 24.7%.
I’ve received twenty-four Vanilla sims, five van/ban cusps (Ellis Sterling of Ewart, June Dandelion of Chambers due to dyed hair, Harukichi Ariados of Mimikyu, Echo, and Puck due to yellow eyes), ten Banilla, one ban/berry cusp (Gregory Chiltington of Chambers - for some reason my .sim file of him has him with a vanilla skin tone?), and nineteen Berry. This is almost proportionally identical to my own Vanilla-Banilla-Berry ratio.
I’ve gotten more Sims beginning with C than I’ve dished out: your ten to my nine! But I’ve sent out more S’s and A’s than you, having only gotten three of each and sent eleven and ten respectively. I haven’t gotten any Bs, Is, Qs, Us, or Xs onwards; then again, I still haven’t prepared any Gs, so Ginerva Ebonywood of SoS and Gregory have that going for them. I only have one D, O, V and W.
Also, we now have more MMBC ‘Poppy’s than anyone else except Katherines - Afton, Blaze, Citrus, and Reaves. What is it with the name Poppy that makes someone ripe for death?
Warning: I no longer possess the .sim file for Marlene, and I have no way of getting it back. Ergo, for the Trait section of this analysis, I am working with one Sim less than I should. Also, two of the new Sims, The Distortionist and Avdotya, don’t have set traits yet, plus Seth is still one short. This shouldn’t skew my numbers too much, but again, if there’s errors, I apologize.
With that said, of the ninety-seven in-game traits that I consistently allow people to use (discounting Unconventional and Panicky), you guys have successfully used eighty-eight of them.
You’ve used twenty-five traits once, eleven twice, sixteen thrice, thirteen four times, eleven five times, one six times, six seven times, three eight times, one ten times, and one - you ready? - eleven times!! Jesus H Christ.
The eleven-use trait is Brave of all things; used five times in Chambers, three times in Limerence, once in SoS and twice in Mimikyu. In comparison, I’ve only used it three times, for Fatin, Percy, and Blackcurrant.
The next most-used traits are Hopeless Romantic at ten (eight for me), and Friendly, Flirty and Hot-Headed at eight (seven, seven and eight for me respectively). Your seven-time users are Ambitious (three), Athletic (four), Brooding (six), Excitable (four), Night Owl (four), and Rebellious (five).
However, this principle also works in reverse. I’ve used Coward eight times, where you’ve only used it thrice for Reef, Lavandar Ink of SoS and Harukaze; and you’ve only used Snob once to my also-eight, for Lidon. (Yes, I’ve used four traits eight times. One more and I’ll have a Sim in and of itself XD) Also, do you know that until today with Aina, I’ve NEVER received a Proper Sim before?! ...I haven’t received a Mooch or Workaholic or Savvy Sculptor either, to be fair, but Proper especially stood out to me with its until-now-lack-of-use because it was my most used trait for a while.
The single-use traits Hydrophobic, Social Butterfly, Technophobe, and all three uses of Supernatural Fan are exclusive to the six known Ewart contestants. Great Kisser, Sailor, Slob, Supernatural Skeptic, and both uses of Angler, Evil, and Unflirty are confined to Chambers. Avant Garde, Disciplined, Dislikes Children, Gatherer, Lucky, and Snob are exclusive to Limerence; Born Seller, Bot Fan, Couch Potato, Loser, Photographer’s Eye, Unlucky, and Vehicle Enthusiast are exclusive to SoS. Only Dog Person is confined to my side of Mimikyu, and so far, Diva, Inappropriate, Natural Born Performer, and of course Proper are confined to UTAU.
I will try to be better.
There's no such thing as a normal day, but today is a particular challenge as Leckie bounces around in an attempt to get an inside scoop--to put a personal face on working in the White House. Will that personal face be his old friend and current Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman, grumpy but coffee-addicted special assistant Hoosier Smith, rival pool reporter David Webster, pissed-off mad genius Deputy Communications Director Ray Person, energetic and impossible-to-locate Deputy Press Secretary Chuckler Juergens, the new IT guy known only as Lurch, or the Holy Grail of interviews, Secretary of Defense Lena Basilone and her husband, Head of Secret Service John Basilone? Who knows? In the end, it could be any one of them. Probably not Webster, though. [A crossover with The West Wing.]
They're not kids anymore, but Andy already knows he could fall in love with Eddie Jones all over again.
Additional Details: Pretty much a romance novel, with hardly any angst. Lots of nostalgia as both Andy and Eddie reminiscence about their childhood summers together. The ghosts that inhabit are ancient and angry, and the crew are faced with the decision of exposing themselves for help, or dying.
STORY 10
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Period-Typical Attitudes, Canon-Typical Violence
Main Pairings/Characters: Merriell "Snafu" Shelton/Eugene Sledge
Side Pairings/Characters: Sidney Phillips, others probably
Summary: AU where Sledge and Snafu meet as teenagers in Alabama and grow closer in spite of themselves. War looms, but in the heat of summer 1941 it still feels as distant and inconsequential as thunderstorm, the kind that blows up in the afternoon and spins out by dinnertime. Eugene gets this feeling when he looks at Merriell and that...feels like a bigger fish to fry.
Additional Details: Magical Realism, Friends to Lovers, Pre-Canon
STORY 11
Rating: Teen and Up (for language and canon-levels of violence)
Warnings: While there won't be anything sexual in this story, I will warn that the actual werewolf biting is non-consensual (the other guys have zero knowledge or warning before the event, and the results of that drive some of the plot), just in case that turns anybody off.
Main Pairings/Characters: No pairings, but a lot of homosocial behavior.
Side Pairings/Characters: Leckie, Chuckler, Runner, and Sid
Summary: Hoosier has never had any interest in turning someone else into a werewolf. He has also never been in a war zone before. When faced with the option of giving his friends a better chance at survival, he barely thinks about it before taking action. He should have given it more thought though, because now they’re all tied to each other forever, through instincts and injury, war and separation, and whatever comes next. Together, they’re all going to learn what it means to be a pack – whether they like it or not.
Additional Details: Team Leckie canon-era werewolf AU. Story will closely follow the events of the miniseries through a werewolf lens. The narration will follow Hoosier (other pack members are Leckie, Chuckler, Runner, and Sid).
STORY 12
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings: No archive warnings anticipated to apply.
Main Pairings/Characters: Edward "Hillbilly' Jones/Andrew 'Ack-Ack' Haldane
Side Pairings/Characters: Bob Leckie/ Bill “Hoosier” Smith (plus possibly references to extremely minor other pairings)
Summary: It's Eddie's last months of high school and all he wants is to have a good time with his friends on the soccer team and maybe win the trophy at the end of the season. However, changes in how players are grouped shake up the team as five new guys take the spots of old teammates. Instead of being a distraction from Eddie's other major problem in life - does he tell Andy about his feelings or would that be a waste of time since they'll be going to different colleges soon anyway and Eddie might 'get over it' then? - it makes it even worse, because you can't bond with your team without spending time with its captain, which means that if Eddie's crush was bad before, it's now beginning to reach epic proportions.
Additional Details:
STORY 13
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No archive warnings anticipated to apply.
Main Pairings/Characters: Eugene Sledge/Snafu Shelton
Side Pairings/Characters: OC’s for both Snafu and Sledge but they will be minor
Summary: After Snafu misses Burgie’s wedding, Sledge gets concerned. He visits New Orleans but he finds a very different Snafu. Distant and basically a wreck. Sledge will come to understand his feelings for Snafu as he tries to help him, even though Snafu really doesn't want to accept any kind of help.
Additional Details:
STORY 14
Rating: General
Warnings: No archive warnings anticipated to apply.
Main Pairings/Characters: Eugene Sledge/Merriell “Snafu” Shelton
Side Pairings/Characters: Dr Edward Sledge, Mrs Sledge, Edward Sledge, Jr, possibly Eugene Roe
Summary: There are approximately 144 miles between New Orleans and Mobile, and Merriell Shelton will drive every single goddamned one of them if he has to. There’s nothing left for him in Louisiana, no place for him at his mother’s dinner table, not after everything he’s seen, everything he’s done. And hell, so what if Eugene’s parents act as if he’s come down to Alabama to dirty their baby boy’s perfect little soul? So what if Eugene’s squeaky-clean, god fearing neighbors look at him like he’s trash? Well, according to Sledge, it means one helluva lot. So two weeks after Merriell shows up at Eugene Sledge’s door like the lost mutt he is, the two of them pack their bags and drive to California. No, they don’t know anybody in California. No, they haven’t got any jobs waiting for them in California. But Eugene says it’ll work out, and, well, Merriell has always been so ready to trust Eugene with everything he’s got.
Additional Details:
STORY 15
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings: Off-screen character death of OC’s
Main Pairings/Characters: Andrew 'Ack-Ack' Haldane/Edward "Hillbilly' Jones
Side Pairings/Characters: None
Summary: Andy/Eddie Modern AU. Andy is a first semester biology student with flatmates who like to party every night. Trying to find a quiet place to study Andy stumbles upon a diner around the corner where Eddie is working as a waiter. They become friends over the following weeks and when he realizes that Eddie’s life is more troubled than he lets on Andy makes it his mission to help him.
Additional Details: The story is pretty light and humorous mostly, but will deal with sad themes at times. It's meant to be a hopeful story with the focus on helping someone in need, so it's not going to be too dark.
Note
So what movie genres do you think the UT cast likes? I can imagine Alphys and Sans nerding out and nitpicking sci-fi movies together for one thing heh.
Ooh! Good question! Asks like these are my favorite haha!
I’m actually going to broaden this to TV shows too. Maybe like, what their Netflix history is.
Frisk
Loves Pokemon. Has watched every single episode in sequential order. (Toriel insists on knowing what Frisk is watching, so she’s had to sit through all of it too. She’s mostly confused by what the point of all this is, and is going to barf if she hears “Gooomygoomygoomy” one more time, but admits she quite likes Brock.) Also watches a lot of Pokemon-like shows.
Occasionally watches Sesame Street, even though it’s below their age range. It’s hard to find monster-positive shows.
As for movies, its pretty much anything animated or based on a kids’ book and nothing else right now. Everything must have a happy ending.
But even more than watching Pokemon shows, they’re into Youtube Let’s Plays. They like Minecraft videos, especially Stampy. (Undyne thinks the concept of watching other people play video games is ridiculous and yells at Frisk to go outside.)
Ambivalent about Frozen. Liked Olaf but that’s about it.
Favorite movies: Matilda; The Little Prince.
Toriel
Likes PBS Masterpiece Classics, like Downton Abbey and Indian Summer.
Probably likes Benedict Cumberbatch.
A sucker for soppy British movies.
Loves The Walking Dead more than you’d expect. Carol is her favorite.
Likes the variety of crafting shows that humans make and put on TV and YouTube. Has thought about making and uploading some of her own.
Gets overly invested into some of Frisk’s kid movies. Bought Frozen on DVD for Frisk. Honestly. For Frisk.
Favorite movie: Philomena
Sans
Into Sci-Fi movies a lot, even though he knows the science is bogus. He and Pap both like Star Wars, it’s got a lot of non-humans who are good guys! (A head canon I ACTUALLY had previous to this ask– the two of them have seen the first Star Wars, but it’s the only one that’s fallen into the Underground and circulated. They don’t know about Vader’s relation to Luke or what a Yoda is. The monsters are possibly the only fans on the planet who haven’t been spoiled on the ending of the OT yet. Some kind human souls learn about this and set up a screening of it in a theater, so that monsters have a chance to see it properly before having it ruined for them. It’s beautiful.)
He also has a large appetite for 90s high school romcoms? Like 10 Things I Hate About You and Clueless. It’s light and funny.
Not as big on TV shows. Likes to have the experience done and over with in one sitting.
Falls asleep without fail during Frisk’s movies.
Except for Frozen, which Toriel’s watched so many times, he managed to stay awake once for it. He thought it was kinda stupid through 2/3rds of it, but the final act got him. SIBLING LOVE is relevant to his interests and now he kind of digs the movie.
Favorite movie: The Fifth Element.
Papyrus
Watches The Bachelor religiously.
Watches Dancing with the Stars religiously.
Still watches anything MTT comes out with.
Not a binge watcher. He likes shows that are on live.
Likes to watch random YouTubers’ Vlog channels, and no one’s totally sure why. It’s so weird… watching them daily, they feel like friends that haven’t met you yet.
Animated shows are for children. …But Power Rangers is cool.
Sees every superhero blockbuster that comes out in the theater.
Doesn’t typically watch anyone else’s shows or movies. If it’s not something he likes, he doesn’t have time for it.
Forced to sit through Frozen at least once. Whined about Elsa’s amateurish ice magic technique and poor casting form throughout the ordeal.
Favorite movie: Star Wars.
MK
Probably watches PG-13 movies eVEN THoUGH THEY’RE NOT YET 13??? Scandalooz!
Is more of a Digimon kid. Arguments have been had.
Also likes superhero movies a lot, and Godzilla movies.
Watches a lot of Ninja Warrior/American Ninja Warrior, and has decided they’re going to take the challenge someday.
Hates Frozen, 0/10,literally the worse movie ever.
Favorite movie: Any Godzilla movie where he’s a good guy.
Undyne
Is disappointed to learn that anime isn’t real. But that’s okay because soon afterwards she discovers Jackie Chan movies and that’s even cooler?? Martial arts are her new jam.
Likes the idea of Ninja Warrior shows, but just feels like there’s a significant lack of real danger. Needs more fire and deadly pits.
Likes watching YouTube videos of people playing musical instruments in really crazy and incredible ways.
Sometimes likes more artsy films? Like with music, she’s not all action all the time.
Still watches anime with Alphys, even though she’s learned the truth.
Frozen had fighting! And magical transformations! And a gripping love story! It’s practically an anime! (Though not the best one she’s ever seen.)
Favorite movie: Hero
Alphys
Continues to be anime trash. Probably likes most of the gay sports anime the best.  Also cute romances like Ore Monogatari!
Watches MST3K with Sans sometimes. They also found this old show where people build RC robots with sawblades on them and fight each other and they LOVE it. They’re considering organizing their own tournament at some point.
Not as into sci-fi movies– but is very into complaining about sci-fi movies. Likes to write long blog posts about why they’re bad/inaccurate.
Likes Dr. Who, despite the above statement.
Really likes cheesy romances. Watches a lot of K/J/C-Dramas.
Total weekly intake of movies and shows in hours is obscene and embarrassing to repeat.
Has blogged about Frozen’s clunky narrative and weak execution of its core themes, but has to admit the characters are lovable and has drawn at least one fanart of it. Has the unpopular ship of Elsa/Hans and just won’t let that shit go.
Favorite movie: Mew Mew Kissy Cutie: Super Lovely The Movie: Extra Doki Extended Cut Edition
Blooky
YouTubing music videos all day.
Watches concert recordings.
Watches MTT’s show every day.
Downloaded the Frozen soundtrack off the internet, but has never watched the movie and genuinely has no idea what it’s about.
Forgets they own a TV 90% of the time.
Favorite movie: ?? Doesn’t really have one. …Sorry…
MTT
Competition shows are great, but he gets frustrated by how long and drawn out human reality tv is. Between each commercial break it should be wall to wall excitement! That’s his philosophy anyway.
Is actually consuming as much film as possible now that he’s on the surface, from a variety of genres. Where Napstablook and Undyne are passionate about music, MTT sleeps and breathes film studies.
Watches the news a lot too?? Probably the best informed monster besides Asgore. He has a news program of his own, and filters a lot of the world’s current events through to monsterkind. He has to always be in the know! …It also helps for making funny, topical statements. His 1.5 million viewers love topical statements!
He’s actually a really effective reporter. There’s no region too dangerous for him, he’ll report from anywhere. War zones. Active volcanoes. Maybe even space? All while doing it in a stunning blazer and perfect hair.
He’s busy a lot, so doesn’t actually have time to watch too many things.
Frozen is exactly the kind of movie he’d make, except that Elsa’s sparkly dress did not have enough screen time. For that matter, more characters needed sparkly clothes. Someone bedazzle that reindeer, stat.
Favorite movie: Grease; Moulin Rouge
Asgore
New to movies and TV, but is slowly getting into them. There are so many violent movies and shows out there! So he mostly lets other people recommend things to him. A member of Oprah’s Book Club. He watches the movie versions of the books he’s read.
He likes stories about peoples’ lives. Watches Dr. Phil every afternoon. Recently he’s been touched by the stories of My 600 Lb Life and Teen Mom.
Is the only sports fan in the bunch. Prefers being there in person to watching on TV, but that’s not always feasible. Paints his face, even when he’s watching from home.
Frozen was a good movie and he enjoyed it quite a lot. Thank you, Undyne.
Favorite movie: Tuesdays With Morrie; Fried Green Tomatoes
Flowey
Loves YouTube Poops and he doesn’t know why.
Hates sad movies. Hates any movie that makes any attempt to make him feel things. Up is a dumb movie.
Doesn’t really care about TV or movies, but likes to watch with other people and chatter over it to ruin their experience. He really just wants to be the center of attention.
Probably pretends to like Adam Sandler movies, but doesn’t actually like Adam Sandler movies.
Likes America’s Funniest Home Videos, especially the ones where people fall off water skis.
Frozen is disgusting and would’ve been better if everyone turned into ice and died. The end.
Favorite movie: Anyone else’s favorite, so he can ruin it for them.
Chara
Doesn’t have much experience with TV or movies outside of what Frisk consumes.
Secretly has the same crappy taste in anime and K-Dramas as Alphys, but is stuck with Frisk’s over-indulgence in YouTube and Pokemon.
Sibling estrangement and isolation is a theme too close to home. Spends too much time drawing parallels between themselves and the rest of the cast, to the characters in Frozen.
Favorite movie: Frozen
Eleanor: Oh for fuck's sake. Ladies, side bar!
Tumblr media
Eleanor: Are we seriously not going to address the elephant in the room?! And by elephant, I mean the obvious wig and clown makeup.
Mysterious Mime: Not a clown, dear, a mime. Zey are completely different!
Tumblr media
Eleanor: You stay out of this!
Tumblr media
Angela: What are you saying?
Eleanor: Really?! If your eyes somehow aren't telling you something is seriously off here, then use your head. A mysterious sixth contestant just happens to show up right after Rose reappears? Come on, I can't be the only one who sees right through that stupid disguise.
Tumblr media
Mysterious Mime: You wound me, mademoiselle! Zis is no disguise! Zis is how I always look! Eet ees called 'fashion'. Look eet up!
Eleanor: I am not talking to you!
Tumblr media
Angela: Hmm, she does sound a lot like Rose, now that you mention it. And her accent is rather...transient.
Tumblr media
Eleanor: We're not really going to go through with this challenge like everything is normal, right?
Viridia: ACTUALLY, I THINK THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE SHOULD DO.
Eleanor: What?!
Tumblr media
Viridia: SHE'S CLEARLY UP TO SOMETHING. WHAT BETTER WAY TO FIND OUT WHAT THAT IS BY GOING ALONG WITH IT?
Eleanor: I mean, sure, but...
Viridia: AND DON'T YOU THINK IT'S STRANGE THE WATCHER DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY KICK HER OUT?
Eleanor: Yeah, I do think that's strange. The Watcher has to know who's under that paper-thin disguise, so I don't think it's an accident that she's here.
Viridia: SO...?
Eleanor: *sigh* Fine. For the sake of morbid curiosity, let's do it.
Week 5: Swamp Ass or Stank Face?
The main plot of this week’s episode is The Battle of the Bayou starring: Taylor, the calculating analytical elitist who knows what she’s talking about most of the time but comes off as unapproachable and rude as she constantly reminds us she has her Masters; and Corinne, the obnoxious narcissist whose every statement is so ridiculously and hilariously false you can’t tell if it’s all a strategic act or if she’s actually just a dumb, spoiled psychopath. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? We once again pick up in the middle of last week’s episode where Taylor is still trying to reason with an unreasonable fame whore, and said fame whore continues to be the absolute worst.
Tumblr media
Interestingly enough, none of the girls actually know what they’re fighting about and no one really cares. Even Alexis, the girl who allegedly wears a sumo suit to go to CVS just for kicks, thinks the two of them need to grow up because we’re not in high school anymore. Someone aptly points out that Corinne has done nothing to Taylor, and Taylor has done nothing to Corinne, yet here we are, watching them talk in circles about nothing. After firing off a few one-liners about Taylor’s stank face, Corinne takes it a step farther and tells Nick that she’s scared of Taylor because she’s not here for the right reasons and “that hurts her...for Nick.” Once she’s finished telling Nick all about Pizzagate and Taylor’s evil ways, Corinne is convinced that Taylor is going home and that she is “hashtag winning,” because nothing is more topical than a 5 year old Charlie Sheen quote.
Tumblr media
And if Corinne hadn’t started this drama Taylor might have actually gone home that night because Nick has never seemed interested in her, but it’s the 2-on-1 week so Taylor lives to see another day. Great.
The Next Bachelorette
After being made to suffer through almost an entire rose ceremony before actually getting her rose, Rachel is *blessed* with this week’s 1-on-1 date which actually seems fun compared to poor Raven who was stuck hanging out at fucking Bella’s soccer game. As they pal around New Orleans eating oysters and beignets, Nick preposterously claims that of all the girls in the house he has the “most explosive chemistry” with Rachel ...
Tumblr media
After Nick and Rachel lead a Second Line through the streets of New Orleans, Rachel tells a a story about how the last time she was in NOLA she participated in a parade but it was for a funeral, which is when she decided to live her life to the fullest and...go on the Bachelor? This story, as well as the background on her intimidating federal judge of a father and how Rachel is not used to being vulnerable despite being very emotional (or something like that), serves as the perfect set up for Rachel to be the next Bachelorette. It’s a NO BRAINER at this point, and I’m 100% confident that this is what ABC was hoping for when they “cast” Rachel to be on the show. ABC really wants a diverse star to prove they don’t have a race problem, but she has to be likable (code: not too black), smart (code: have a real job), and beautiful. Coincidentally, Rachel has all of those characteristics and Nick seems into Rachel enough for her to make it to hometowns, leaving me with the hope that, maybe, just maybe, we’re finally going to have a Blachelorette.
Tumblr media
Do you believe in ghosts?
The group date this week presents us with a chance to identify the women who say things like “the energy in this room” by taking the girls to the Houmas House, one of the most haunted houses in America that also happens to come with a full bar and a Norman Bates caretaker who goes by the name of Boo. Boo takes the girls on a tour of the old house that is apparently haunted by a young girl name Mae who gets real pissed when you fuck with her dolls. I can’t tell if it’s the fake painting of Mae or the fervor with which Boo demands that no one touch these dolls, but I’m 99% sure that these dolls all belong to Boo, and Mae never existed. A few minutes of research reveals that the house, also known as Burnside Plantation, once housed 750 slaves and was the center of the largest slave holding in Louisiana.
Tumblr media
So it’s pretty safe to say that if any ghosts actually haunted this plantation they wouldn’t be of a little girl worried about her goddamn dolls, but one of the countless slaves that lived and died in captivity. Curiously, nothing about slaves or the plantation are ever mentioned as Boo continues to make a big deal the girls not touching his dolls.
Tumblr media
Once the girls are forced to hang out alone with Nick after Boo takes his leave to try on some of his dead mother’s clothes, they play with an Ouijia board to distract from the crushing reality that they are all wasting their time (and losing money) while looking for love on this show.  And then coincidentally, after Jasmine the vocal non-believer of ghosts touches a statue, a chandelier falls and things start getting spooky! While the girls take turns playing Ghost Hunters, Nick has empty conversations with everyone except Raven*, who accidentally lets slip that she fell in love with Nick while he was rollerskating. This is dubious for many reasons, including the fact that she’s spent maybe 6 hours in total with Nick, and also, it’s Nick. But Raven seems pretty genuine and Nick very surprised, so I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately for Raven, however, Nick and the producers already decided he needed to give the rose to the girl next door, neonatal nurse other video vixen, Danielle M., to reaffirm his intention to continue to string her along. I’m sure Boo was thrilled to see them leave so he could get back to his tea party.
Tumblr media
Battle of the Bayou
And now, for the “main event” of the episode: the rumble in the jungle between Taylor and Corinne! In the blue corner, coming in hot with a Masters from Johns Hopkins and a “stank face on her face,” Taylor!! In the red corner, trying so desperately to make every in-camera interview into a gif, Corinne!! Throughout the episode both sides are given their chance to present their case to the Nation of Bachelor. According to Corinne, she is exactly what Nick needs and Taylor is a bitch who thinks shes better and smarter than everyone. According to Taylor, she has her Masters, is more qualified to be a wife, and Corinne is a lying manipulative clown. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Tumblr media
Once they reach the depths of the bayou, Nick and the girls are met by the best voodoo priestess ABC could find, Rachel Dolezal 2.0. I was hoping for either an old black blind woman or an Angela Basset type, but beggars can’t be choosers in the swamp I guess. They are soon directed to Ms. Cleo, who reads Taylor’s fortune first and warns her that it’s best not to engage with the evil spirits but to take the high road and rid herself of all this negativity. Now since Taylor has her Masters, she knows that when trolls go low, you go high, but that’s only the right call 71.4% of the time, or when you aren’t living in this alternate reality where nothing is real and everything is upside down. Unfortunately for Taylor, we’re in that alternate reality and even Ms. Cleo can sense what’s coming because the cards don’t lie.
Tumblr media
And sure enough, as soon as Corinne gets Nick alone, she starts twisting the truth and painting a false narrative of Taylor as the aggressor and Corinne as the victim. Taylor tries ineffectively to reverse the damage Corinne has done with her fake news and alternative facts, but in this alternate upside down reality, alternative facts are the facts, and we know how this story ends. Instead of picking the girl who is at least a qualified and rationale choice for a wife, he picks the obnoxious train wreck who’s only doing this for fame. Even though I’ve been a Taylor Hater since Day 1, this move is preposterous, and everyone involved knows it. Even Nick is blushing with embarrassment as he and Corinne awkwardly climb back into their boat leaving Taylor to reassess her life choices and the meaning of the world alone in the woods. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Did you notice . . .
** We don’t get to see this until the credits, but Nick’s conversation with Alexis on the group date, centering around her legitimate fear of Nicolas Cage, is amazing. WHY are they showing me clips of Danielle L. telling Nick she maybe is falling for him, or of Danielle M. barely talking at all, and putting these Alexis nuggets of gold at the end of the episode!?! The producers and editors really fucked this season up by not giving her more screen time because she is so much funnier and better in all respects than anything that comes out of Corinne’s mouth. #JUSTICEFORALEXIS
“Realistically, I don’t see Nick and Corinne getting married at the end of this” is the understatement of the century.
“If I see a ghost I’m gonna rebuke that thing in the name of Jesus.”
Of course Danielle L. believes in and is afraid of ghosts. I actually LOLed when she said this date was going to be “a challenge” for her.
“I had a great time. I did not squeal.” - Nick ....
The real loser in the Battle of the Bayou is Rachel, who is forced to spend an entire day alone in the house with Taylor and Corinne.
Nick is fucking terrible at being the Bachelor. I know I’ve gone on and on about how disingenuous he is, but it’s driving me nuts. Sure, every Bachelor has to say dumb shit like “From Bourbon Street to the Bayou, I can’t imagine a better place to fall in love.” but literally every single time he addresses the girls and in most of his 1-on-1 conversations it feels like he’s reciting Bachelor Canon because he couldn’t be bothered to think of anything real to say at any point along the way.
They say if you get close to the woods you can still hear Taylor whispering “but I have a Masters ...”
Minority Report: Interestingly enough, and despite the fact that they don’t appear to have any connection with Nick whatsoever, Jasmine and Jaimi are still around. I know this is cynical, but between Nick’s lazy approach and coziness with the producers, it feels like he agreed to make sure a few black girls stuck around long enough until the producers / Bachelor Nation could pick one they liked and move forward with the whole Blachelorette campaign. Now I know what you’re thinking: c’mon Jen, that’s racist. Well ... so is The Bachelor.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Welcome to Among Us, TASH! FINN ROBINSON ( with the faceclaim of CIERRA RAMIREZ ) has found shelter in CAMP JUPITER and NEW ATHENS, where we hope SHE will fit in nicely. Please make sure to check the “after applying” section of our navigation here!
Finn (finley, finley gabriela...) is already such a loveable character. There’s a great deal of background information supplied for her, and the fact that she’s a Roman girl in a Greek world is a concept that can definitely be played with. It’s definitely going to be interesting to see how the Greeks react to her being there, and the other way around! Your IC para gives even more insight into Finn’s thoughts and life, which is definitely a good thing!
AND YOU ARE…?
What is your full name, and when were you born?
“Hello! My full name…?” The girl hesitates for a moment before she answers, “Well, my full-full name is Finley Gabriela Robinson. Finley Robinson is my full name, one full, because usually I go by the name Finn. So most people would call me Finn Robinson, but that’s just a short version of my name. Does… does that make sense…?” The girl watches the interviewer for a moment before blushing and adding, “I was born on March 17th, 1997 in New Rome.”
Have you been claimed, or do you belong to a legacy? If yes, state your godly parent / heritage.
“I’m a Legacy of Venus and Chione. My mom is a daughter of Venus, and my dad is a fourth-generation legacy of Chione. All the Robinsons at New Rome have Chione heritage, usually mixed in with something else, because we all end up with demigods or what not at the end. I haven’t really inherited any powers—I can’t even speak French like my mom. I do seem to have a knack for understanding relationships that’s sort of cancelled out by being emotionally obtuse—that’s what my family calls it anyway—but I’m not particularly powerful by any means. Just well trained.”
Where are you currently based? Are you attending a Camp (Half-Blood / Jupiter), or are you living full-time in New Athens / New Rome? Is it a combination of both?
“I’m primarily living in New Athens for the time being,” Finn says, picking at the hem of her sweater absentmindedly. “I’m hoping to start school at the New Athens University in the fall. I’m currently taking an intensive course there with one of my old professors, and it’s going well! I’m in an apartment I’m sharing with my boyfriend and we live with our dog. We need some roommates though, we have too much space and the rent’s high… Once that’s done though, I’ll have to move back to Camp Jupiter for a few months to do my summer training so I can complete my seventh year of service. I know I should’ve just gone home to New Rome—that would’ve been the logical choice.” Finn falls silent, head dropping down to look at her sweater hem, twisting it and fidgeting. “But I lived there my whole life. College is a time for new experiences, right? I might as well challenge myself, even if the choices are now… limited.”
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? ( If you’re applying for a canon character, are you diverging from book-canon? If so, how?)
“I love Disney movies, but my favourite is Tangled. If I met Rapunzel at a Disney park I would cry. When I was younger I wanted to be a Roman Disney Princess—which is impossible, since Romans didn’t really do princesses, maybe the Etruscans—but nevertheless, I feel like that sums me up in a nutshell. Oh! And I also own about, like, forty sweaters. My addiction isn’t as bad as it was when I was younger, but I still have plenty because in the past few years I could actually wear them more often and I still love them a lot.”
Finn hesitates for a moment, her forehead puckering into a frown. “Sure. Let’s see—well, I’m an only child. I grew up in New Rome and I didn’t leave it very often until I moved out for college. I have a dog called Tiberius, because Tiberius is my favourite emperor, and my boyfriend calls him Little T. My parents have their own fur baby and I called her Cleo, after Cleopatra. Cleo and T are from the same litter! Okay—enough about my dogs… sorry…
“I know I’m living in New Athens, but I’m very much a Roman. New Athens is a really nice place but it’s sort of being in the twilight zone. I’m always calling things the wrong term or I’m accidentally saying things in Latin which I would expect them to understand, and they don’t. It’s all very new to me, I think? It’s like what they say: you can take the girl out of Rome, but you can’t take the Roman out of the girl.
“I’m obsessed with history—my favourite period of Roman history is the Pax Romana, and I really like learning about The Renaissance in general. I really love all those historical period shows because the costumes are super good and they always get cute guys to play all the roles. The plots are usually super inaccurate so I usually spend a lot of time telling my boyfriend why they’re wrong. I think he kind of likes them now—I caught him binge watching Downton Abbey by himself. He also got me into musicals—we really wanted to go to Broadway one day… you know, before. Please don’t tell him I said that though; he thinks it’s very un-macho of him, although I think it’s manly to have non-stereotypical interests. Also he’s a really good singer! I like to listen to him while he belts out Wicked songs while in the shower or making breakfast. He’d make a great Fiyero.
What were you doing prior to The Recall?
“I was in… I was in Michigan. I was studying at the University of Michigan—I was a classics major. Am a classics major.” She purses her lips, looking unsure. “I was living there with my boyfriend. We were going to college together. But when the Recall happened, my parents wanted me back right away… so I quickly finished up my final exams and left.”
Finn twists the hem of her sweater in her hands, bouncing her leg absentmindedly. “I loved Michigan. I really thought that it could be… something.”
SHOWTIME!
An information packet shouldn’t be so terrifying. They were potentially being hunted and persecuted by mortals, she had actually faced death on a few occasions, and had to explain to her mother why she had a Michigan acceptance letter and why one from the UNR would never come in the mail. An information packet, even with an included application form, wasn’t a promise of a decision or a fixed path. So why was Finn having so much trouble gripping the ceramic handle of her mug? Why was her heart jackhammering away in her chest?
        “Come on, Finley,” she said to herself. “Roman up.”
        She didn’t have too much longer before Noah came home, so she needed to scan through this before he got there. She knew that she should be sharing this information with him, but Finn had felt something ugly build between them since they’d arrived here, and she was afraid of what he was going to shout at her in anger and sadness, the way she was afraid to yell about the things she thought about in the middle of the night, when they were both pretending they were sleeping. Ultimately, it was her decision. She needed to make it with a clear head and in her own best interests. With a deep breath, she opened the packet.
        NEW ATHENS UNIVERSITY: BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION
Her professor, the one whom she had followed from Ann Arbor, had told her she had a great capacity for it. He’d told her that he didn’t think she’d needed to take this intensive course in the first place, much to her shock—“I’m not sure why you need it, Miss Robinson,” he’d said. “You know more about the complexity of Roman myths than I do—you grew up living within them. You’ve always been limited by the information I could teach you. There’s only so much a demigod or a legacy can be taught about their own heritage, Miss Robinson, and, should you enter the field, only so much you can give away. I would know.”
        Then he’d recommended the Introduction to the Renaissance class to her for the fall, told her where to get the packet, and told her to keep up with her Latin and wished her well.
        “But what if I still want to do the course?” she asked. “I moved here to take it.”
        “Well, if you do the course,” her professor replied, “Maybe I can convince you you’d be a better teacher than I am.”
        And now here she was, three days into the course, bored out of her mind, her essay already half-finished because she already had the perfect resources for it, finally asking for the information on the School of Education on a whim, asking what would happen if her transfer got accepted, if she could be a teacher on the outside (they’d looked at her funny after that, and she tried not to think about staying here forever for too long).
        She skimmed through the information at first, and then started reading carefully. As she read, something inside her began to fall into place. Was this really what she’d wanted all along? Is that what she’d be good at? All of this was so new to her but it felt so right—which is why as soon as she’d finished reading, she pulled out the application form and her favourite black pen.
        Finn had finished writing her name and date of birth when she heard familiar heavy footsteps approach the door. Finn acted quickly; she quickly stuffed the form back into the folder, stuffing the whole packet into a drawer she knew Noah would never check. Finn picked up her mug and took two deep breaths before the door opened, ready to greet her boyfriend with a smile.
The Wall of Woe is the next obstacle! Can the contestants survive?!
Tumblr media
Viridia: READY TO LOSE?
Eleanor: You wish. I was a climber as a kid. Trees, gutter pipes, you name it. This'll be a breeze.
Cut the chatter, ladies, we're on the clock here.
Tumblr media
And it's Viridia in front, no surprise there. The fifteen pounds of filthy gutter rags must be weighing Eleanor down.
Tumblr media
Viridia: MADE IT!
And Viridia wins the wall race by a country mile!
Tumblr media
Viridia: HEAR THAT, AIDEN? WE'RE GOING ON A SECOND DATE!
Oh ho ho! Getting ahead of ourselves, are we? Don't forget, there's still the Platform of Precarious Peril and the Jetpack of Jeopardy to contend with!
Tumblr media
Ten minutes on the clock. Whoever lands (or crashes) first loses!
Tumblr media
And they're off! Isn't this exciting? Isn't this thrilling? Isn't this pulse-pounding action?
Tumblr media
Viridia: IT'S PEACEFUL UP HERE. I NEVER THOUGHT I'D ENVY BIRDS, BUT IMAGINE EXPERIENCING TRUE FREEDOM LIKE THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS. NOTHING HOLDING YOU BACK, JUST YOU, THE SKY, AND THE INFINITE HORIZON.
Tumblr media
Eleanor: HolyfuckI'mgonnadie
Tumblr media
Virdia: I FEEL LIKE A CLOUD! A BEAUTIFUL, ETHEREAL CLOUD WAFTING ON THE BREEZE!
Tumblr media
Eleanor: HowdoyoulandthisthingIwannagetdown
Tumblr media
*crash*
Well. You're down now.
Tumblr media
Eleanor: Sweet merciful ground! I am never doing that again!
Viridia: DON'T BE SO DRAMATIC. LANDING CAN'T BE THAT HARD!
Tumblr media
Viridia: OH SHIT, I, VIRIDIA, WAS WRONG!
Tumblr media
Uh...you good?
Tumblr media
Viridia: YEAH, NOTHING INJURED BUT MY PRIDE. AND MY SPLEEN.
Tumblr media
Eleanor: Whoa whoa whoa, what do you mean 'who is Aiden'?! He's the Bachelor! You know, the whole reason we're competing in the first place?!
Angela: Surely you can't be serious!
Tumblr media
Rose: I am serious! 🤭 And don't call me--
Viridia: IF YOU FINISH THAT SENTENCE, I WILL END YOU MYSELF.
Tumblr media
Eleanor: Gaaaaaaah, I hate you people.
Angela: Then I guess I need you to explain a lot more than the murder attempt because if you aren't competing for Aiden's heart -- the alleged premise of the show -- what are you competing for?
Tumblr media
Rose: I. keep. TELLING YOU! I want to WIN! 😠
Tumblr media
Angela: Yes, but win what?!
Tumblr media
Rose: Uggggh, you're so dense, it physically hurts. 😩
Viridia: STOP TALKING IN CIRCLES AND JUST EXPLAIN SOMETHING FOR ONCE!
Rose: Haven't you ever heard the expression 'winning isn't everything, it's the only thing'? 🙄
Tumblr media
Angela: Yeah, I've heard toxic Little League coaches say that to crying seven year olds. And?
Tumblr media
Rose: Seriously?! It's the principle I've based my entire life on! It's my mantra! My raison d'être! 👿
Viridia: WATCH OUT, SHE'S GOING FRENCH AGAIN.
Angel: So the whole reason you snuck back into the house, disguised yourself as a mime, sloppily painted your blue stripes purple, tried to kill Angela, and potentially scarred Aiden for life was...because of an expression everyone uses ironically?
Rose: It's not ironic to me, dammit! It's my sole purpose in life! Everyone knows that, even the Watcher! And she...she used it against me. 😓 She promised me that if I made the competition interesting for her, she'd let me back into the house.
Eleanor: Wait. What?! Say that again.
Rose: When I broke into her control room, she made me an offer: I'd get to come back and compete again as long as I did something to shake up the status quo. She was getting bored of you idiots. 🥱
Tumblr media
Angel: I-I can't believe this.
Bailey: I know what you mean...
Angel: One of us got to meet the Watcher in person and it wasn't me.
Rose: Look, Angel, if it makes you feel any better, she's not what you think. She's...crazy. 😦
Bailey: High praise coming from you.
Rose: And not only that, she seriously doesn't know how 'Earth reality shows' as she calls them work because holy shit, this whole thing has been one clusterfuck from the beginning. 🙄 She says it's a Bachelor-type dating show but she's run the whole thing like a survival show with the challenges and eliminations. I mean half of us haven't even met this Arwin-or-whatever, let alone been on a date with him. What sense does that make?! 😵
Tumblr media
Aiden: It's Aiden. I'm Aiden!
Tumblr media
Eleanor: You're right. I thought this whole thing was shoddily arranged but I've never seen any reality dating shows. For all I knew, this is how they're supposed to be.
Rose: Well I've seen hundreds of them, and believe me, this is not how they're supposed to be. Arlo is supposed to spend time with all of us one-on-one, not be shoved into a pod by himself ninety percent of the time. 😣 I don't know how they do shows like this back on her planet but it's not how we do it on Earth. 👽
Tumblr media
Eleanor: On...her...planet? The Watcher is an alien?
Tumblr media
Rose: Well duh. 😑 You couldn't tell? Why do you think she abducted us all at the casting call? She had to get us on more familiar turf.
Angel: That doesn't make any sense. The Watcher can't be an alien. She's an eternal extra-dimensional being of pure benevolence.
Viridia: WILL YOU SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR RELIGION, ALREADY?! CLEARLY SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING ON.
Eleanor: I knew it, we really are in the Lunar Lakes moon settlement. I could tell from the trees. But...why are we the only Sims here?
Rose: I don't know and I don't care. 🤨
Wow. You really exposed me to everyone, huh, Rose?
Rose: You exposed yourself! You should have just let me win from the jump and I wouldn't have had to tell everyone what I knew. 😖
I guess it really is a good thing I didn't tell you the whole plan, then, huh? Otherwise you'd have run your mouth to Aiden.
Rose: Yeah yeah, Argyle or whoever-the-fuck. Well, I held up my end of the bargain. You're going to call this whole thing off and just announce me the winner, riiiiight? 🤤
Why would I do that?
Rose: Because...I made things interesting for you, like we agreed on. 😕
Then why am I still bored?
Rose: I-- 😶
You haven't won anything, Rose. You're still the same loser you were when you walked into this place on the first day. And that's all you'll ever be.
Rose: ...
Nothing to say to that?
Tumblr media
Rose: I am going to kick. your. ass. 😡
